The Klamath Safety Group will not be meeting until it is appropriate amid COVID-19 concerns and social limitations.  The Southern Oregon Chapter of ASSP (American Society of Safety Professionals) has posted a terrific video on COVID-19 on their website in lieu of holding their April meeting.  We strongly encourage you to watch the video, the speaker is a retired doctor in Medford and she does a marvelous job explaining how the virus works, the difference between all the statistics that are being shared, and the reason we should be taking social distancing so seriously in order to flatten the curve.  She talks about past pandemics and compares the current data by country along with how strategies have impacted the number of cases.  You can find the video on the Chapter’s website:  http://www.soassp.org/

We urge you to take COVID-19 seriously and follow the guidelines and executive orders being implemented in Oregon.  While some in Jackson and Klamath counties have felt there is not a lot to worry about with only 2 and 1 travel-related cases respectively, Jackson County announced the first community spread case today (3/24/20).

We also encourage you to sign up for email updates on the Southern Oregon ASSP website as the Chapter will be providing monthly programs online until further notice.  We are not sure if they will be recorded live or offered via Webex but we are certain a recorded version will be available.
